Nature Based Learning for Irish Primary Schools

Nature Based Learning is a long-term approach to education centred on bringing children outdoors on a regular basis. It includes activities such as school gardening, nature walks, outdoor classrooms and specialised approaches such as Forest School. 

Forest School is one specialised approach within the umbrella of Nature Based Learning. It is delivered by trained practitioners and has guiding principles including regular sessions, a holistic approach to learning and the opportunity to take risks.
